Understand Factur-X, electronic invoicing and mandatory customer data

Objective. Understand the relationship between the readable PDF and structured XML, complete the mandatory routing and tax data, and verify that an electronic invoice is valid and usable.

Estimated duration1 h

What you will learn

  • Explain what Factur-X contains and why the PDF and XML must describe the same invoice.
  • Identify the company, customer, tax, routing and payment data required for transmission.
  • Distinguish document generation, technical validation, transmission and lifecycle status.

Recommended workflow

  1. Complete the issuing company and customer identities, addresses, tax identifiers and electronic-routing information.
  2. Review invoice lines, units, VAT categories, totals, payment terms and bank details before validation.
  3. Generate the final invoice and verify both its visual presentation and its structured data.
  4. Transmit through the configured channel and retain validation reports, acknowledgements and subsequent statuses.

Checks before continuing

  • The PDF and XML values are consistent for parties, lines, taxes and totals.
  • The recipient can be routed using the identifiers required by the applicable network or platform.
  • A technically valid file is still reviewed for business and tax accuracy before transmission.
